The Pakistan Super League encounter between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi was abandoned due to a waterlogged outfield at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, forcing both teams to share points.

The washout handed Islamabad their first point of the season, while Peshawar moved up to second place on the table with three points from two matches.

The disruption followed a violent thunderstorm that struck Lahore shortly before the scheduled start. Heavy rain, strong winds, and even hailstones battered parts of the city for nearly an hour, leaving significant puddles across the ground. Although the main pitch area had been covered, much of the outfield remained exposed to the downpour.

Rain eased around the scheduled start time, raising brief hopes of play. Ground staff worked extensively to dry the field, and as late as 9:20 PM local time, there were indications that a shortened five-over contest might still be possible after covers were removed.

However, despite the efforts, the outfield conditions remained unsafe for play. Officials ultimately called off the match moments later, marking the first abandoned game of the season.

The result leaves both teams with shared spoils, though the weather ensured fans were left without any on-field action in what had been a highly anticipated clash.
